Latest Bulletin

23rd May 2026:

🏆 FOREST PARK PROVED SOMETHING IMPORTANT

I’ll be honest, the Forest Park result meant a lot to me.

Not just because Owen Lake won and will now serve as the new Winkfield Parish Councillor for the Forest Park ward, although that was obviously a fantastic result and thoroughly deserved.

It mattered because it proved something really important: that local people are starting to believe they do actually have a choice.

For years, politics in Bracknell Forest has largely operated like a closed shop. Certain parties simply assumed certain seats belonged to them and most people were expected to quietly accept it.

Forest Park showed that assumption is starting to break down and that only happened because ordinary people stepped forward and got involved.

✅ People delivered leaflets after work
✅ People gave up evenings and weekends
✅ People knocked doors
✅ People had difficult conversations
✅ People backed us publicly when it would have been easier not to

That really matters so, firstly, thank you.

Secondly, congratulations to Owen, who worked incredibly hard throughout the campaign and has already shown exactly the kind of calm, practical and community-focused approach local politics desperately needs more of.

⚠️ NOW COMES THE IMPORTANT PART

The truth is, 2027 is coming very fast.

In less than a year, every council seat across Bracknell Forest will be up for election and for the first time in a very long time, there is a genuine sense that local politics here could fundamentally change.

You can feel it on the doorstep now, the people are:

  • frustrated,

  • losing patience, and

  • no longer buying the old political script.

... but none of this happens by magic.

If we want to seriously challenge the establishment parties across the borough, then we need to start building properly now.

Currently, we have around 30 people willing to stand although, realistically, to properly fight every seat and build serious ward teams across Bracknell Forest, we need somewhere closer to 80–90 people putting their name forward.

If you want to be a candidate see more.

👥 WHAT WE NOW NEED

• ward organisers
• leaflet delivery volunteers
• door knockers
• social media support
• campaign leaders
• polling day teams
• future council candidates

.... and before anyone thinks: “I’m not political enough for that…”, that's really good as, honestly, some of the best people coming forward are precisely the people who have never been involved in politics before.

What matters to the people and the rest of the team is not whether somebody can talk like a politician, its whether they:

  • care about their community.

  • express 'common' sense, and

  • are prepared to stand up and say: actually, this isn’t good enough anymore.”

That is how movements grow, not through career politicians but 'normal', down-to-earth people deciding they’re no longer prepared to sit on the side-lines.

🗳️ BINFIELD SOUTH — DEMOCRACY MATTERS

We also now have an important situation developing in Binfield South.

Unless local electors formally trigger a by-election, the Conservatives, increasingly hiding behind “independent” labels, will simply co-opt somebody into the role without local residents ever getting a vote.

Personally, I think that says a lot about the state of local politics.

If you genuinely believe in democracy, accountability and giving residents a say, then people should be able to vote.

So if you live in the Binfield South ward and might be willing to:

• help locally
• support a petition
• join a ward team
• or potentially stand yourself

.... please get in touch, even if you are only curious at this stage, that is absolutely fine.

📍 NEXT BRANCH MEETING — SATURDAY 20 JUNE

📌 The Morgan Centre
Wellington Road
Crowthorne
RG45 7LD

🕜 1:30pm — Open (public) session
🕒 3:00pm — Closed (members only) branch meeting

If you have been thinking about getting more involved, this would be a very good one to come along to bring.

  • family,

  • friends, and

  • neighbours.

Some of the best conversations we have had over the last year have started with somebody simply turning up for a coffee and a chat because they felt something in the country and/or locally, was no longer right.

🌿 CHAIRMAN’S GARDEN PARTY

I am also really looking forward to the Chairman’s Garden Party coming up on Saturday 11th July at 2:00pm

Politics matters, but community matters too.

Sometimes it is important simply to get good people together, talk properly and remember that what we are building here is bigger than elections alone.

FINAL THOUGHT

Like Harmanswater before it, Forest Park was not the finish line but simply proof of concept.

Proof that if enough decent people stop assuming somebody else will deal with things, local politics really can change but only if we keep building.

Previously

2nd May 2026:

Forest Park by-election on 21 May

This is where it counts

We are standing Owen Lake in the Forest Park by-election for Winkfield Parish Council.

Owen is a long-standing local resident with decades of experience in local government, finance and housing. He understands Forest Park and is focused on practical priorities that matter:

  • cutting waste and protecting resources

  • tackling anti-social behaviour

  • keeping streets clean

  • acting quickly on abandoned vehicles

This is a strong candidate but this election will not be won on paper.

Even a relatively small group of committed people can move things forward very quickly and every additional pair of hands helps us build the ward teams we need.

The reality we are up against

Let’s be clear.

  • The Conservatives believe this is their ward by right, based on history.

  • The Lib Dems sense an opportunity, just as they did in Ascot when Labour stood aside.

  • Then came Harmanswater, which we won, even with the Lib Dems stepping back.

  • Now in Forest Park, Labour are not standing and the same old games are at play again.

This is how the establishment operates.

Different colours. Same tactics and they will expect to take this seat unless we outwork them on the ground.

We need boots on the ground - immediately

This is now about effort and presence.

We urgently need supporters to:

  • door knock in Forest Park

  • deliver leaflets

  • speak to residents

  • help with final canvassing

  • act as polling station tellers on 21 May

Even one or two hours of your time could make the difference.

👉 Reply by email now if you can help

This is bigger than one by-election

This is about proving that we can:

  • take on the establishment parties

  • break their assumptions, and

  • win where they think they are entitled

If we show up, we can win this.

If we don’t, they will take it and nothing changes.

Next Reform UK Bracknell meeting - Saturday 20 June

The Morgan Centre
Wellington Road
Crowthorne
RG45 7LD

  • 1:30pm – Open (public) session

  • 3:00pm – Branch (members only) meeting

This will be a key meeting as we build towards success in 2027.

So, if you are planning to join us, please consider bringing one family member (or more), a friend or two and even your neighbours, in fact anyone who might be interested in local issues.

The public session beforehand is open to everyone and is a good opportunity for local residents and business people to hear what Reform UK is doing locally and even more important, for us to listen to them and their concerns.

In fact, we're building our 2027 manifesto on the back of the feedback from these meetings.

Candidates still needed for 2027 and upcoming by-elections

We are also preparing for:

  • further by-elections

  • the full May 2027 local elections

We have made a strong start but we still need around 50 more candidates to field a full slate.

If you have ever thought about standing, now is the time.

You do not need to be a politician, just:

  • common sense

  • commitment

  • willingness to represent your community.

If you want to be a candidate apply here.

Final word

The establishment parties are already positioning themselves.

They assume this seat will fall their way.

Let’s prove them wrong.

1st February 2026:

Bracknell is winnable and now it’s time to organise.

In the last bulletin, I set out plainly why Reform UK Bracknell matters, why the current direction of travel is wrong and why splitting the vote can only entrench the very administration with which so many residents are rightfully frustrated.

This update is about what comes next, as 2026 must not be a waiting year but a year of readiness.

Across our communities in Bracknell, Sandhurst and the parishes making up the constituency / Branch area, support for Reform UK is real and growing. What will decide whether that support turns into lasting change is organisation, street by street, ward by ward and community by community.

That means people coming together, sharing ideas, asking questions and deciding how they want to be involved, at whatever level suits them. Accordingly, we are bringing everyone together for our next branch meeting.

Combined public (open) and Branch (closed) meetings – Saturday 14 March.

Venue: Braybrooke Community Hall, Makepiece Road, Priestwood, Bracknell, RG42 2HF

Public (open) meeting This first session is open to anyone locally who is interested in Reform and the future of Bracknell including, of course, our existing paid up members and registered supporters.

This is about listening much more than speaking and ensuring the quiet majority is heard, with:

  • Short introductions

  • A quick briefing on emerging local manifesto priorities

  • An open discussion and questions from the floor

New attendees will welcome to register as supporters or members.

Branch (closed) meeting This will be a meeting for paid up members and registered supporters only, focusing on:

  • Branch business and governance

  • Ward organisation

  • Campaign planning

  • Next practical steps as we build towards 2027

These meetings aren’t about speeches or grandstanding but rather where ideas are tested, responsibility is shared and momentum is turned into action.

Looking ahead (briefly)

Alongside our ongoing campaign activities, which we intend to ramp up in the run-up to our own local elections in May 2027, the branch will also be running a small number of fundraising events over the coming months, details of which will be shared fully, by our events team, at the March meeting and closer to the time. These include:

  • A clay pigeon shoot at Gibraltar Barracks on 03 May (a relaxed, sociable event and if it helps, you can imagine the clays represent the politicians you’d most like to see politically shattered at the ballot box, not literally). A simple £10 deposit will be payable via a link (coming soon), with the balance paid (in cash) on the day.

  • A summer garden party, hosted by the Branch Chairman on 11 July, which is starting to become an annual fixture.

By then, we also hope to be celebrating the success of our fellow newly elected Reform councillors from across the country, just as we did last year, with Justin Bellhouse, our first councillor not only in Bracknell but in the whole of Berkshire.

All of that matters.

Some of you will want to be active on the ground, some will help quietly behind the scenes and others may simply want to stay informed and come along to listen. You don’t need prior political experience, just a commitment to Bracknell and a willingness to get involved in a way that works for you.

The national picture remains challenging but locally we are building something serious, grounded and hopeful, backed by organisation, not slogans.

Bracknell is ready. Now we must be too.

Best wishes
